The Human Endocannabinoid System
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biological system comprised of endocannabinoids, cannabinoid receptors, and enzymes that regulate a variety of human functions such as sleep, appetite, pain, and inflammation. Naturally-produced cannabinoids found in cannabis interact with CB1, CB2, and numerous other receptors and enzymes to promote homeostasis and regulate biological systems such as the immune system, internal temperature, cholesterol levels, and pain management.
